Wind Turbine Power Calculator

Estimate power from a wind turbine.

How it works

Power in the wind = ½ × air density × swept area × wind speed³. A turbine can only capture a share of it, set by Cp (the theoretical limit is 0.593, real turbines reach 0.30–0.45). Because power rises with the cube of wind speed, doubling wind speed gives eight times the power. Real output varies with wind. Example: with the default values, electrical power comes to 7,758 W.
