Resolution Needed for Print Calculator
Pixels and megapixels required for a print of a given size.

cm
dpi
How it works
Pixels needed = print size in inches × dpi. Divide the centimetre size by 2.54 first. Lower the dpi for posters and billboards, because viewers stand farther away and cannot see fine detail. Upscaling software can help, but it cannot add real detail. Plan a wall poster from its intended viewing distance. Example: A 60 × 40 cm print at 300 dpi needs 7087 × 4725 px, which is about 33.5 megapixels.
