How it works
Resting energy requirement (RER) = 70 × body weight in kg to the power 0.75. Daily calories = RER × a life-stage factor: 1.6 neutered adult, 1.8 intact adult, 1.2 inactive or senior, 1.0 weight loss, 2.5 active or working, 3.0 puppy under 4 months, and 2.0 for a puppy older than 4 months. For weight loss, enter the target weight, not the current weight. Cups use the kcal per cup printed on the food bag. Treat the result as a starting point, then adjust by body condition and your vet's advice. Example: A 20 kg neutered adult eating a 350 kcal/cup food needs about 1,059 kcal a day, which is 3.03 cups.
