How it works
Resting energy requirement (RER) = 70 × body weight in kg to the power 0.75. Daily calories = RER × a life-stage factor: 1.2 neutered adult, 1.4 intact adult, 1.0 inactive or senior, 0.8 weight loss, 1.6 active adult, and 2.5 kitten. Enter the target weight when you want weight loss, and never crash-diet a cat, because fast weight loss can damage the liver. Cups use the kcal per cup printed on the food bag. Example: A 4.5 kg neutered adult eating a 300 kcal/cup food needs about 260 kcal a day, or 0.87 cups.
