Specific Heat Calculator

Heat needed to warm or cool a material: Q = m × c × ΔT.

°C

How it works

Q = mass × specific heat × temperature change. Water has a high specific heat of 4.186 J/g·°C, so it takes a lot of energy to warm. Example: heating 250 g of water from 20 °C to 80 °C needs about 62,790 J. Values are typical figures near room temperature.
